Mock-Ups

For this assignment, you will practice the web design process using hypothetical scenarios for a real or imagined company such as one of the following:

A mortgage company
A fashion retailer
An architecture firm
A law firm
A coffeehouse
A company of your choice

In each case, it will be up to you to decide and research possible audience demographics, as well as determine the best approach to meeting the goals of a specific type of company.

The final product of this assignment should be a collection of notes and drawings that would be appropriate to begin the development of a prototype. These will include:

A rough storyboard of page content, with notes about navigation
Thumbnails of layout ideas
A map of the project's navigation structure

For the following mock-up, I was assigned to make up a business, create a wireframe, and a static mock-up for said company's website home page.

A wireframe is a simplistic preview of where a designer intends to place various website items, such as where to put the company’s logo on the web page, where to display the site’s navigational links, where to show the various product photos, etc.

Adjusting the final mock-up, I would fix the text to remove the widows and create a better color scheme. I would also change the heading banner so the image has a lower transparency making the text easier to read. Another change would be the layout, making sure there is adequate space between borders, images, and text sections.
